  THE COREY DIAMOND MEMORIAL FUND was created in memory of Corey Diamond. Corey was killed July 23rd, 2006 while traveling as a passenger in a car. The car was hit by a U-Haul truck that ran a red light while being pursued by police. Corey was 16 years old, and had just completed his sophomore year at Buffalo Grove High School, Buffalo Grove, IL. His death made a significant impact on his family, friends, his school and the community. The fund exists to promote and support music, arts and community service programs as deemed appropriate by the Board of Trustees: Some of the previously funded programs include: 

trumpet icon Music programs within the local middle school and high schools such as:
 The purchase of instruments for students who can not afford them
 The purchase of new and replacement common instruments
 To provide scholarships for select band students
Provided funding for the replacement of 16 year old risers for the BGHS Choral Department.
 
Eagle icon Boy Scout Troop 140s community service projects:
 The purchase of food and materials for a soup kitchen in Waukegan.
 Other programs and projects as deemed appropriate
 
environment icon Environmental programs at Buffalo Creek, a park in the Lake County Forest Preserve District and Buffalo Grove Park District
 
  Other programs that reflect Corey’s interests and personality.
